elements to women’s French style

Chic French Womens Style seems to be trending again but, if you ask my opinion, it never left. There’s an element to every French Woman’s style that is just so effortlessly chic, each and every outfit looks put together and perfectly tailored. As Americans, we typically gravitate towards styles that are overly tight fitting, cropped and, quite frankly, on the cheaper side (both in price and quality). We grab a comfortable torn ripped pair of denim pants 6 out of the 7 days of the week because, to us, that seems effortless and chic.

What stands out most to me when admiring French Womens fashion style is the oversized fit of each item that somehow, simultaneously looks tailored and perfectly accommodating to their size and shape. I’m leaving for France in just a few short days and I was so excited to pack for my first ever trip to Marseille AND Paris. I feel like I have been waiting for this moment my entire styling career (and life in general) and what makes this even more exciting and challenging is the fact that I get to style and pack for the French coast AND city.

MARSEILLE

The first stop on our France vacation is Marseille. I
was so excited to blend what we know as “Coastal
Grandmother” with the French chic and effortless
style. Wide leg pants are IN and an absolute closet staple
year-round - I’ve paired these wide leg pants with
crossover belt with a fitted white bodysuit and plan to
layer it with an oversized crisp white button up shirt.
Depending on the temperature I will either plan to wear
simple sandals or white sneakers that are comfortable
to walk around in all day, a tan and white crossbody
tote and a wide brim panama hat.

PARIS

After 3 full days in Marseille we train up to Paris for another
3 full days. While the overall vibe of Paris will be much
different from Marseille there are items that I plan to pack
that can be interchangeably worn in both cities. This look is
planned for an elevated tourism day around Paris. I wanted
to look incredibly chic on the outside, but extremely
comfortable and warm on the inside. These tailored cuffed
chinos are perfectly paired with a fitted black bodysuit and
oversized black blazer. If there’s anything we all typically
notice first about French Women it’s their incorporation of
designer wear - I’ve decided to pair my extremely comfortable
Chanel leather espadrilles and small Givenchy canvas crossbody
tote, both in similar color tones, for my functional accessories.
Finally, no Parisian outfit would be complete without a
chic neck scarf from Le Scarf…how fitting?!

No trip to Paris would be complete without a going out

outfit. For this evening look, I’ve paired my oversized black
blazer and wide leg trousers (both items paired with other
styled outfits for the trip to get multiple use from each item)
with this sexy combination tulle corset bodysuit. In
addition to an overall effortlessly chic look that all Parisian
women show, they also have an effortlessly sexy look
as well that I think this outfit compliments. French women
are known for exuding a sophisticated sexy look and I just
loved the design and fit of this bodysuit and truly felt
that it fit the style profile. I’ve paired this look with platform
suede pumps by Stuart Weitzman and a Givenchy
small canvas tote.

While I’ve only highlighted three of my looks for the trip, I’ve planned many more that I’m excited to share with you all. Visit our socials (Instagram & TikTok) tomorrow and Wednesday to view the complete Head to Toe looks I’ve packed for Marseille and Paris.
