HOME DECOR TIPS: SPRING BEDROOM
bed
The warm weather lends the need to swap out our heavyweight bedding for lighter, more breathable options…store those flannel sheets and fleece blankets away! Most people already have a down/down alternative comforter on their bed. Stylishly fold the comforter to the foot of the bed and then layer a lightweight quilt set over crisp cotton sheets. When selecting fabrics, reach for natural fibers during these warm weather seasons because they tend to breathe better and create a more comfortable sleeping environment. If you haven’t washed or replaced your pillows in a while, now is a great time to do that, as well!
fan
Don’t sweat it! Excess heat has its place in the bedroom, but when you need to cool things down, you do not need to sacrifice style for comfort. The Dyson Pure Cool Purifying Fan is a stylish option to bring some relief to those warmer sweaty nights that can inhibit a good night’s sleep. The blade-less technology is safer, quieter, and gives off a streamlined look. As an added bonus, the fan also purifies the air, creating a cleaner sleeping environment.
CURTAINS
After a long Winter, I crave having sunlight in my living spaces. Nothing beats waking up to the sun rising in the morning! Incorporate sheer curtains in the bedroom to filter just enough light to balance privacy and aesthetics. Double curtain rods are key to properly layering sheers on a window - where the inner rod holds the sheers and the outer rod holds the more decorative or light blocking heavyweight curtains. Having the different curtains on separate rods allows you the flexibility to easily customize the look and feel of the room.
SCENTS
In the Fall and Winter we tend to gravitate towards more “homely” scents for both seasons composed mainly of vanilla, cinnamon, balsam, and even mahogany. While these scents are great for the colder months, Spring brings a new arrival of home aromas that are seasonally timed as well. Swap out your home scents, whether that be candles or outlet wallflowers, to more inviting scents for Spring and Summer - these include, lavender, fresh cotton, and ocean breeze, just to name a few. You can affordably create an inviting Spring ambiance in your home simply by lighting a seasonally scented candle.
flowers
You’ve heard us time and time again preach that flowers are a beautiful and affordable way to decorate and we’re going to say it again. Whether you decide to go with real flowers or faux flowers, decorating with a seasonally curated bouquet is an instant (not to mention gorgeous) way to transform a space. If you decide to go with faux flowers, your local craft store like Michaels or JoAnn Fabrics, always has affordable options. Be creative with purchasing your arrangement and have fun selecting an appropriate vase for it. Pro Tip: If you do decorate with faux flowers don’t forget to dust them off…they can gather dust quite quickly and if you have an arrangement out for quite some time (like a full season) you’ll be surprised just how quickly the leaves and petals can gather dust.
