The ACCESS| Style team could not disagree with the Dictionary.com definition of a personal stylist more. Sure, once upon a time personal stylists were primarily reserved for the wealthy or celebrities who needed professional styling for certain events like gala’s, movie premieres and other glamorous outings. Now, this particular service has become not only available but accessible for essentially anyone, regardless of one’s income status.
ACCESS | Style has redefined the definition of a ‘personal stylist’ as follows:
A professional who expertly assists with crafting a client’s personal style, that can make them feel beautiful, comfortable and confident.
There is a common misconception (likely due to the dated definition and practice of what personal styling USED to be) that hiring a personal stylist is expensive. While this may be true for certain personal styling services, ACCESS | Style offers an array of packages that are affordable for everyone! We view personal styling as a service that should be available to all. We live in a society today that offers instant insight into the lives of celebrities, clothing trends, and shoppable ads for items available for purchase with just a click of a button…needless to say, it can be very overwhelming.
A personal stylist should be well versed in the current styling trends, a good communicator and listener, knowledgeable about personal fit and tailoring, and, most importantly, flexible.
The A|S Team doesn’t simply pick clothes from one particular retailer, or pluck a complete outfit off a styled in-store mannequin. After filling out a simple questionnaire to get a better sense of our clients’ tastes, current style, and needs, we then have an open discussion, designate a budget and get to work compiling new and creative styles. While we certainly provide styles our clients are expecting, we do pride ourselves on also pulling items and head-to-toe looks that bring clients outside of their comfort zones.
Another unique talent indicative of a good personal stylist is the ability to curate styles for a particular client that are unique to them. We love to push the envelope and help clients think creatively about their wardrobes. Sometimes, you don’t need a new wardrobe, but rather a new perspective on your current one, and that’s exactly one of the services we provide.
