Q&A with A|S!
Q: Who are your favorite designers? Fashion or interior!
Laura - My favorite fashion designers are Alexander Wang, Julia Allert, and Alice + Olivia. I love the unique spontaneity of Wang, the funky tailoring of Julia Allert, and the colors and spunky femininity of A+O. My favorite Interior designer is Kelly Wearstler - her style is twofold. She has such an unapologetically funky fashion style, and her interior design is so incredibly cool and well crafted. She is truly an artist through and through.
Drew - For fashion, I really don’t play favorites...I personally like to mix and match designers and find pieces in many collections. If I had to pick one right now…I have been enjoying the collection and custom pieces designed by Christian Siriano. It’s great to see a designer bring the full drama and vision to anyone he dresses. For interiors, Nate Berkus & Jeremiah Brent are my longstanding favorites. I’ve followed and enjoyed their work for many years and am always inspired by their creativity and unique perspective on their projects.
Q: How can you tell if a piece of furniture is worth the price?
Pay specific attention to the materials and techniques used to create the piece of furniture. There are a lot of shortcuts being used in even pricier furniture options available at stores today. Make sure you are getting the proper value for these investment pieces.
Q: Are there stylish options for trash cans?
Yes! Don’t feel like you have to compromise style for function when looking for a trash can. We have successfully pulled very stylish options to fit our client’s aesthetic. If interested in one off options like this, send us an email or DM - no request is too small!
Q: Can you help my husband with his outfits too?
Absolutely! The A|S Team has many male clients who have requested help for special events, seasonal looks, and even assistance with proper tailoring advice.
Q: Favorite trends for Fall?
Laura - I’m loving the rebirth of culottes - we’ve seen so many different styles for this trendy pant option and I love all of them. I’m also really embracing the “oversized chic trend” I call it. We’re seeing this most with oversized blazers, boot cut denim, and chunky sweaters and cardigans. It’s such a classic and timeless look, and very often one that can make you look slimmer.
Drew - The reintroduction of men’s knitwear tops is a favorite for me. From the simple knit polo shirt to the full crocheted button up shirts, I like seeing these styles created in both classic and retro patterns and weaves, which create very different looks.
Q: Can you wear blue and black together?
As long as the shades of blue and black have enough contrast and variation, we definitely think blue and black are a nice combination. The key is to make sure it doesn’t look like you mistakenly grabbed a blue clothing item, thinking it was black.
