Packing for a trip is a task on a very short list of ‘most annoying things to do’ …next to scrubbing toilets and waiting for your car to be inspected. It’s difficult to feel the excitement surrounding a trip in the beginning because the burden of packing often leaves us overwhelmed and stressed. With our Professional Packing Package we alleviate the stress of preparing for a trip by doing all the heavy lifting for you!
The A|S Team recently completed a Professional Packing Service for a new client headed on a two week vacation to Europe with her family. The trip consists of some very formal work events, loads of traveling between countries, as well as varying activities which resulted in multiple outfits a day – needless to say, a professional packing company was a MUST to unburden our client with packing for such a long and busy trip.
If you’re curious to see what’s involved in the process, we’ve outlined some key steps below:
After a brief discussion with our client and a thorough review of her travel itinerary, we were able to get a better sense of the exact items that were required for this trip. Additionally, (and often something people forget when packing for professional trips) we were able to grasp a better idea of HOW our client wanted to present herself to friends and colleagues. Since the trip includes networking opportunities and social events, presenting a proper first impression is key and a stylish outfit always leaves a lasting impression.
While referencing our notes and the provided daily itinerary, we started to pull clothing items and accessories from our client’s closet - these items included dresses, swimsuits, cover-ups, pants, tops, as well as comfortable, yet fashionable shoes, hats, jewelry and purses. The next step was to check in with the client and review the items from our initial pull. In doing this, we ensure that the client is comfortable with what we’ve pulled, confirm that each item fits and is appropriate, and it also gives us a better idea of the vibe & style our client is seeking. Once the client confirms the first round, we return unwanted items and complete a second round of pulls, as necessary.
Once all items have been pulled we start to curate outfits for each day and/or activity as outlined by the client. While doing so, we always keep in mind what items would be suitable for multiple day use and what accessories can be reused - this helps maximize luggage space.
Once each outfit is styled we photograph them to include in a virtual LookBook. The virtual LookBook is such a handy tool for clients to reference during their trips. It serves as a day-to-day, or in this case event-to-event, guide of what outfits are appropriate for the varying activities on the trip, which helps to alleviate the burden of getting dressed each day. Included in this book are an additional 2-3 outfits that serve as extras composed of primarily already styled items to again, help maximize the luggage space and provide our clients with options.
After reviewing each photographed look with our client we begin the packing process. Packing cubes are a great and organized way to pack clothes for any trip. The A|S Team includes personalized packing notes for each cube to let the client know what’s included in each cube for a seamless unpacking and repacking process.
It’s crucial to be as practical as possible when packing (say that 5x fast). For this particular client, she wanted to bring a large straw tote; so we used this bag as an opportunity to pack smaller cubes and clutches inside to help maintain the straw tote’s shape during travel. Packing efficiently is important for any trip but especially on long trips when luggage weight is important.
